Lehigh Gorge State Park - This park borders our river cabins. Walk from the cabins down to the park to Fish - Bike - Run/Walk, or view the river and gorge from the river on a whitewater rafting trip or take a Train ride up the gorge.
This Park consists of the Lehigh River where they do all the whitewater rafting and a bike trail along the river's edge. The bike trail runs 26 miles down river from White Haven to the the town of Jim Thorpe (the "Switzerland of PA).
Bring your own bikes or rent from Pocono Biking for bike rentals and shuttles or view the gorge and river from a train - take a train ride on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway.
This park has something for everyone and is beautiful in every season!
Hickory Run State Park 4 miles, just across the river from some of the cabins, Rt 534
theis 15,990 acre park has a great swimming lake with BBQ areas, 19-hole disc golf course, concessions, restroom facilities. It has more than 40 miles of hiking trails -

Definitely take the kids to Boulder Field - a striking boulder-strewn area, and it's a National Natural Landmark.
Francis E Walter Reservoir - This pristine 80-acre reservoir is great for fishing (stocked with trout), kayaking or floating around on an inner tube. There is also a picnic area with tables and bbqs. Go for a swim off the kayak and boat launches. There are several walking trails too to explore - hike down to the Lehigh River below the dam (great fishing there too!).
Nescopeck State Park: About 9 miles from cabin in Mountaintop PA
Bordered on the south by steep Mount Yeager and on the north by Nescopeck Mountain, the 3,550-acre Nescopeck State Park encompasses wetlands, rich forests, and many diverse habitats. Nescopeck Creek, a favorite of anglers, meanders through the park. Hiking trails follow the creek, pass through quiet forests, and skirt wetlands.
An environmental education center provides year-round educational programs on the park’s diverse resources. Interpretive exhibits highlighting the park’s natural history can be seen inside the environmental education center.
Big Pocono State Park - 30 minutes East on top of Camelback Mountain
The park consists of 1,306 acres of rugged terrain on the summit and slopes of Camelback Mountain and features scenic views of three states.
Ricketts Glen State Park - 45 minutes Northwest
Ricketts Glen State Park is one of the most scenic areas in Pennsylvania. This large park is comprised of 13,193 acres in Luzerne, Sullivan, and Columbia counties.
Ricketts Glen harbors the Glens Natural Area -- a National Natural Landmark. Hike the Falls Trail System to explore the glens, which boasts a series of wild, free-flowing waterfalls, each cascading through rock-strewn clefts in this ancient hillside.
The 94-foot Ganoga Falls is the highest of 22 named waterfalls. Old growth timber and diverse wildlife add to the beauty.
Tobyhanna State Park - about 30 minutes East
Tobyhanna State Park is in scenic Monroe and Wayne counties.
The 5,440-acre park includes the 170-acre Tobyhanna Lake. Tobyhanna is derived from an American Indian word meaning “a stream whose banks are fringed with alder.” Gouldsboro State Park is nearby.
Gouldsboro State Park - about 30 minutes East
Gouldsboro State Park, in Monroe and Wayne counties, contains 2,800 acres of land. The 250-acre Gouldsboro Lake is popular for fishing and boating.
Beltzville State Park - about 30 minutes South, close to Jim Thorpe
The 3,002-acre Beltzville State Park is in the southern foothills of the Poconos. Pohopoco Creek, an excellent trout stream, feeds the 949-acre Beltzville Lake, which is a rest stop for migrating waterfowl and is a destination for boaters and anglers. The sand beach and picnic pavilions are very popular.
Bushkill Falls - about 45 minutes East
The Niagara Falls of PA, Bushkill Falls is among the Keystone State's most famous scenic attractions. This unique series of eight waterfalls, nestled deep in the wooded Pocono Mountains, is accessible through an excellent network of hiking trails and bridges which afford fabulous views of the falls and the surrounding forest.
